World of Warcraft is a MMORPG that follows from a long history of extremely successful, but not massively multiplayer, games by Blizzard Entertainment. Being well known for their game styles, artistic creativities, and attention to fine details, Blizzard's release of their first MMORPG was groundbreaking. At the time of this writing (a few months after wow's release), world of warcraft already has a subscription base of over 600,000 active players.
Keeping with the history of WarCraft I, WarCraft II, and WarCraft III; World of Warcraft characters are either from The Alliace or The Horde . Once players have chosen an allegiance, they are then free to choose their a race based upon their selection. At the time of this
World of Warcraft Quests
In World of Warcraft, players are able to advance their wow characters by performing a number of "mini quests". Instead of performing repetative tasks (such as practicing spell casting, or killing the similarily leveled monsters), players interact with npcs (non player characters) in order to fulfil some story line or plot. Compared with other MMORPGs, World of Warcraft has made leveling easier (and more enjoyable?) through this quest based system.
In addition to experience, upon completing a quest, the character will often receive some sort of reward.
Guild Wars - State of the Game
Because it has been a few weeks since we've posted a major update, we wanted to let everyone know what's in the works. Typically, a few weeks is a short amount of time in the development cycle of a game, but we know there are many people who play Guild Wars with such dedication and intensity that a few weeks without an update seems more like an eternity. Here's what's on the way...

World of Warcraft Reaches New Heights
We're proud to announce that World of Warcraft has been embraced by more than 1.5 million players in China since its launch there last month, bringing the total worldwide population for the game to 3.5 million players! We want to take this moment to again thank all of our players for helping us bring the world of Azeroth to life. If you're interested in seeing the full details of the press announcement that went out today about this, please click this link .
Wow, that is completely amazing! 3.5 Million subscribers is HARD to acquire by any MMO, so huge kudos to Blizzard!

Lineage 2 is a hugely improved sequel to the moderately successful MMORPG Lineage. The Lineage series was originally developed and released in the Korean market and later released worldwide. Hugely successful in Korea, Lineage II has also made a definite impact on the rest of the world with servers in Asia, Europe, and several in North America.
A large part of Lineage 2's success can be attributed to a very realistic engine with arguably the best graphics of any MMORPGs released to date. Character and map detailing rivals some offline games released at the same time which is quite an accomplishment considering the resources required to maintain a persistent world.
